The manufacturer of hardness testing equipment uses steel-ball indenters to penetrate metal that is being tested. However, the manufacturer thinks it would be better to use a diamond indenter so that all types of metal can be tested. Because of differences between the two types of indenters, it is suspected that the two methods will produce different hardness readings. The metal specimens to be tested are large enough so the two indentions can be made. Therefore, the manufacturer uses both indenters on each specimen and compares the hardness readings. Construct a 95% confidence interval to judge whether the two indenters result in different measurements.Note: A normal probability plot and boxplot of the data indicate that the differences are approximately normally distributed with no outliers.Construct a 95% confidence interval to judge whether the two indenters result in different measurements, where the difference are computed as "diamond minus steel-ball."The 95% confidence interval is (________,_______)Data Table:Specimen 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9Steel ball 51 57 61 70 68 54 65 51 53Diamond 53 56 61 74 69 56 68 51 56

Suppose that the average number of years to graduate at a university is 4 years, with a standard deviation of 0.5 years. From the Empirical Rule, what is a range of values that 95% of the students should graduate between?
Calculate 95% and 99% confidence intervals for m. Using the 95% confidence intervals, can we be 95% confident that m is a least 50 pounds? Explain.
A social psychologist has developed a test measure gregariousness. The test is normed so that it has a mean of 70 and a standard deviation of 20, and the gregariousness scores are normally distributed in the population of college students used to ..
The weight of an almond is normally distributed with mean 0.05 ounce and standard deviation of 0.015 ounce. Find the probability that a package of 100 almonds will weigh between 4.3 and 5.3 ounces.
Calculate the slope and intercept of the least-squares line. (Give the answer to three decimal places.). Compute an estimate of the average runoff volume when rainfall volume is 75.
The analogous probability for the second signal is 0.49, and the probability that he must stop at at least one of the two signals is 0.75. What is the probability that he must stop
