In air-conditioning systems, streams of cold and warm air are mixed to get air with the right temperature. Consider a mixing chamber into which cold air enters at 8C and 100 kPa at a rate of 0.55 m^3 /s and warm air enters at 300C and 100 kPa. The ratio of mass flow rates of warm to cold air streams is 1.6. Using variable specific heats, determine the mixture temperature leaving the mixing chamber.

Determine the heat transfer for the process : A closed system of mass 10 kg undergoes a process during which there is energy transfer by work from the system of 0.147 kJ/kg, an elevation decrease of 50 m, and an increase in velocity from 15 m/s to 30 m/s. The specific internal energy decreases b..
The rate of heat transfer from the air to the walls is small : A 1.5 kilowatt heater is to be used to heat a room with dimensions 3.5 m × 5.0 m × 3.0 m. There are not heat losses from the room, but the room is not airtight, so that the pressure in the room is always atmospheric. Consider the air in the room to b..
