Write a paragraph about the The iconic photo of the Great Depression was taken by Dorothea Lange in March 1936 and entitled “Migrant Mother.” The photo portrays pea pickers in California, and the woman is a 32-year-old mother of seven children. What is striking about this picture? Why do you think it has become famous? When it was published, it caused a lot of public uproar and even inspired John Steinbeck to author The Grapes of Wrath. A few years ago, a single mother with two young kids in my class showed great sympathy for this woman. There are still many homeless and economically distressed families in America, so we may not be able to belittle the photo as a thing of the past.
