The state constitution that Texas operates under today was ratified in 1876. Given the post-bellum politics of the period and the fact that Texas was still largely a rural state, the document seemed adequate. Now that Texas has moved into the 21st century as an urban state (the fastest growing one in the U.S.), is that still the case? In other words, does the Texas State Constitution need to be revised? or even rewritten? Why or why not?
