The tennis coach needs a better tennis ball serve for practice. This device must fire a sequence of standard tennis balls ball from one side of a standard tennis court over the net such that they land and bounce within each of three court areas defined by the court white lines. The order and frequency of the balls landing in any one of the three court areas must be random.
The device should operate automatically untended except for the refill of balls. It should fire 50 balls between reloads. The timing of ball release should vary. For simplicity a motor driven pin-jointed linkage design is preferred.
What is the minimum energy in the conduction band, and where can it be found in the Brillouin zone?
Air enters a nozzle steadily with a density of 2.5 kg/m3 and velocity of 40 m/s. It leaves the nozzle at a density of 0.81 kg/m3 and an exit velocity of 150 m/s. If the inlet area of the nozzle is 100 cm2, determine the exit area of the nozzle.
Steam enters a nozzle at 4 MPa and 640°C with a velocity of 20 m/s. This process may be considered reversible and adiabatic. The nozzle exit pressure is 0.1 MPa. (a) Draw a sketch of this process. Include all known information. (b) What is the entro..
