"Supervisors that fail to plan formally are planning to fail". Lack of formal planning may cause the organization to lose direction as it loses sight of the organizational goals. It is also important to have plans in place that allow you to remain in compliance with the law as well as company policy/procedure. Failure to understand the law and company policy/procedures opens a supervisor and the company to legal action. Consider the following forum question and talk about how you would handle this situation: As a supervisor, you have been advised that one of your female employees whose job requires heavy lifting s pregnant and will be taking maternity leave in accordance with the FMLA act of 1993. She has requested temporary modifications on her job responsiblilities You are currently short staffed, dealing with a hiring freeze and low morale due to the current workplace conditions. How should you handle this situation? What are the pros and cons for you, the pregnant employee, the other employees and the organization?
