Case Study About Trish

Consider the following scenario:

Trish, a middle manager, has been employed with the company for over 5 years. She attends the annual prospecting meeting where the company executives and managers discuss ideas and the direction the company needs to take in the following year. Trish is excited and comes to the meeting prepared to discuss an idea that she thinks is critical to the company's continued success and technological growth in its industry.

Trish shares her idea in the meeting and is met with resistance from her peers and leaders. A short time later, Mark (another manager for the company) restates Trish's idea and everyone in the meeting is paying attention and the idea is met with enthusiasm and optimism.

    • Characterize the type of diversity issue in this scenario.
    • Explain how this meeting could be different if the company had a clearer vision about diversity and inclusion.
    • Elaborate on how you would ensure that this opportunity to employ diversity inclusion practices is not overlooked, if you were attending this meeting.
