Some have speculated that regular use of Facebook may lead students to spend less time studying which, in turn, may contribute to lower grades. Related to this, a recent study found that Facebook users, on average, get lower grades in college than non-users. Specifically, the results of the study showed that the average college GPA for Facebook users is between 3.0-3.5, but the average college GPA for Facebook non-users is between 3.5-4.0.

According to the scientific principles you learned about in this course, to what extent is it appropriate (or inappropriate) to conclude that regular use of Facebook may lead students to have lower grades (perhaps because of less studying) and why?
