you will conduct research into the background-both personal (i.e. biography) and cultural (i.e. tribal affiliation)-of a world indigenous author.
The format for the delivery of this presentation is up to you with the only restriction being that you may not write a paper.
Personal Biography: the presentation should introduce the rest of the class to a rich and detailed account of the author's life. This can include the author's life at all ages, not just the period during which the author was publishing.
Tribal or Cultural Affiliation: Indigenous Authors are often very vocal about their tribal or cultural affiliation. Once you identify what this affiliation is (for example, it might be Cherokee or Ojibwe), a portion of your presentation should be devoted to a description of the relevant cultural history of this particular group. You are welcome to provide any information about the group that you believe to be relevant to the author's writing
The presentation must be at least 3 minutes long.
The presentation should show signs of effort and enthusiasm in the work.
The presentation must include lots of detail about the author and author's cultural background.
The presentation should not just present facts, but leave your classmates with an "understanding" of this author and his/her background. In other words: make it more than an encyclopedia entry.
The presentation must introduce the class to author's writings as well as the author.
The presentation must include at least visual and audio components, but the rest is up to you.
The presentation should draw connections between the author's background and writings.
