Problem
Write a program that will help you select the lightest W shape from a limited group of W shapes. The beam is to be simply supported and will carry a uniformly distributed line load. Consider moment only. You will need to create a short table of W-shape properties from which the program can make the selection.

(Realworld software contains more comprehensive tables of shape properties.)

Choose a few shapes (perhaps six) from Appendix I and include nominal depth, weight, and section modulus in the table. User input for this program is to be uniformly distributed line load intensity (kips/ft), span length (ft), and yield stress (ksi).
