According to a recent newspaper report the average starting salary for recent graduates in Electrical Engineering is at least $62,450.
The Placement Director at Supreme State University would like to test the accuracy of the newspaper report. Thus, he took a random sample of 20 recent graduates in Electrical Engineering and recorded the following starting salaries. Test the appropriate hypothesis at the .01 level of significance, on the assumption that the starting salaries for recent graduates in Electrical Engineering are normally distributed. Make sure that all the steps of the hypothesis testing process are clearly identified in the appropriate order. Note that the value of the test statistic has to be obtained from the Excel output, NOT calculated by hand.
