Needs assessment should be performed on three levels: strategic/organization, task and person. In this week’s Assignment, you will complete all three with a focus on task for your employee orientation program. The two Discussion topics for this unit will address the need assessment levels of strategic/organization and person. The person level of need assessment addresses who needs training and what the training should be. Our authors point out that person needs analysis has two components: Summary and Diagnostic. Summary person analysis addresses an individual’s overall performance and Diagnostic person analysis gets at reasons why an individual performs the way they do. A critical piece is performance appraisal. Figure 4-2 presents a model of Performance Appraisal for Person Analysis. How would you assess this model? What do you see as its assets and liabilities?
