So what I have read from cases been made that economic treaties such as European Union or even NAFTA are designed to integrate economies so that goods and services and currencies can flow easily from country to country.  How is it possible for institutions like the European Union to seemingly function so effectively when it does the same thing that members of the United Nations fear so much: a surrender of a nations sovereignty; in effect surrendering your identity or your independence for greater good?
