Abstract:
Our project is to design a functional jacket that will charge a mobile device on the go. Most people have had their cellphone lose charge at a time when it is inconvenient or impossible to recharge it. Our project aims to eliminate that problem by incorporating energy capturing technology right into the user's jacket. A dead battery is not only a minor inconvenience in everyday life, it can also be a dangerous problem when someone is unable to call for help. We aim to expand on already available technologies and streamline them into a convenient and functional product for the user. We are exploring the topics of Piezoelectrics, Flywheel technology, and inductive coils as possible solutions to be incorporated into our product. In addition to its technical capabilities, the jacket will be comfortable and discrete. The jacket will function as a normal jacket as well as a charger and must stand up to the elements.
