In the article, Staff Nurse Who Puts Patients at Risk by Failing to Keep Accurate Records, the nurse, Paul; worked on the general surgical ward. "He was liked by the ward team and well respected by the doctors who felt he always helped them out in difficult circumstances," however; he would frequently complain to colleagues about having to write up patient notes. (Castledine, 2004) Paul would take every opportunity he could to pass off writing the patient notes so much that he would give them to students or auxiliary to write down what happened and then counter-sign their record. Gradually his actions developed more harmful over time to the point where clear unethical research behavior was involved such keeping accurate records of patients and failing to maintain patients' confidential information.
