The article and audio was extremely informing to me because I really have no idea about computer code or anything computer related. I thought it was dumb for these kids to be creating viruses for the 'sheer intellectual challenge' and then never releasing them. Why not creat a code that people actually want to use? Why not go play world of warcraft and write cheat codes, because that would be cooler than being responsible for destroying the personal data of innocent people. They claim they don't want to deliberately hurt other people's personal computers, but if that were true I'm sure they could find a new hobby. The audio made it seem like these guys are so bored in Siberia or wherever they live that they don't have anything else to do, and since they're so smart their free time is spent on creating really difficult codes. If they have access to the internet they can definitely find an alternative, positive code to write that is just as difficult.

It was also surprising to read about how damaging these viruses or worms can be, and the extent of people they can reach through people's computers. Microsoft is a main target because a huge amount of people use Windows, so the perpetrator knows he will hit a lot of computers via Microsoft. Worms bringing down ATMS and 911 systems is scary and the article said a lot of writers leave their codes up on the web for anyone to grab.

The audio is about the virus underground, and it really is like an underground world. Other code writers get mad when their codes are used without credit, and people want to be known for their work and feel important for writing the best or coolest codes. Honestly they should all just get into video games and take credit for that code writing instead of targeting victims computers.
