(Interaction between space-time codes and multiuser diversity schedul- ing) A design is proposed for the downlink IS-856 using dual transmit antennas at the base-station. It employs the Alamouti scheme when transmitting to a single user and among the users schedules the user with the best effective instantaneous SNR under the Alamouti scheme. We would like to compare the performance gain, if any, of using this scheme as opposed to using just a single transmit antenna and scheduling to the user with the best instantaneous SNR. Assume independent Rayleigh fading across the transmit antennas.
1. Plot the distribution of the instantaneous effective SNR under the Alamouti scheme, and compare that to the distribution of the SNR for a single antenna.
2. Suppose there is only a single user (i.e., K = 1). From your plot in part (1), do you think the dual transmit antennas provide any gain? Justify your answer. Hint: Use Jensen's inequality.
3. How about when K> 1? Plot the achievable throughput under both schemes at average SNR = 0 dB and for different values of K.
4. Is the proposed way of using dual transmit antennas smart?
The cylindrical coaxial cable with the cross section shown below, has inner and outer radii of 5mm and 15mm respectively. The dielectric parameters are; er=2, signma=5*10^(-10) S/m and Ur=1
Once the sequence starts it will complete. If E=1 during the last output in the sequence the sequence repeats. Otherwise if E=0 the output remains constant at 1. The first thing they want in this problem is a Moore state diagram for the circuit.
Obtain a minimized equation for the function F(X,Y,Z)=Σ(0,1,3) + Σmd(5,6,7) then draw a schematic to implement the minimized function in SOP form using AND, OR and inverters. Draw a schematic implementing the function using only NOR and inverters.
An AB latch operates as follows: If A = 0 and B = 0, the latch state is Q = 0; if either A = 1 or B = 1 (but not both), the latch output does not change; and when both A = 1 and B = 1, the latch state is Q = 1.
For the feedback register shown in Figure 1, determine the count sequence. Assume an initial state of Qa, Qb, Qc, Qd,Qe = 10000. Design a sequential logic system, using JK Flip-Flops, which detects a bit pattern of 1101 in a stream of serial data.
Document your test plan in a table. For each test case, document the expected program behavior and the actual program behavior. If the program does not behave according to your prediction, write a brief explanation of what the program did wrong.
Calculate the critical clearing angle and plot the swing curve for the machine - What is the power angle at the end of the 10 cycles?
What is the maximum symbol rate that the twisted pair line can carry without ISI? 256-QAM modulation is used on the link. How many bits are conveyed by each symbol?
Draw the logic circuit that realizes the finite state machine using D-type flip-flops and NAND gates ,Please just use flip flops and NAND gates
A special external data signal (DATA_READY) is asserted whenever each of the bits for X are available. In addition, another special signal (ENCODE) is asserted during the transmission of the data X indicating whether 2X+3 or 3X+1 should be compute..
In a voltage stabilizer circuit with a Zener diode, the output voltage decreases when touching the zener diode with your fingers when no load is connected. Ideally, the output voltage should not drop. Explain why there is a decrease in output volt..
Design a low pass active filter such that its roll off attenuates frequency components a 10kHz or more by more than 30 db. This means that the magnitude of the transfer function (in db) at frequency 10kHz should be -30db or less
