Practice with Hispanic Clients Evaluation Paper

Purpose

Each of you will further develop the social service agency in the community of your scenario that has a program targeted at the Hispanic clients portrayed. You will need to think about the mission of the agency, the programs offered, the clients served, and any evaluation that has occurred in the past. Your proposal should focus on the program's outcome of interest, the Y, and activities of the program that can be evaluated for their effect on Y, the Xi.

Instructions

You will then write a mock proposal for an outcome evaluation focused on programs and interventions serving Hispanic children and families. The paper will be in four parts

Evaluation Proposal ¬ Part I

? Describe the agency, its services, and the demographic profile of the Hispanic clients served.

? Be concretely descriptive. Identify the evaluative question you will answer, the Y and the various Xi.

? Describe how the agency addresses the unique needs of its Hispanic clients.

? Program Rationale and Aims

Evaluation Proposal ¬ Part II

? Research Literature Review: at least ten current (in the last ten years) scholarly articles on the topic of interest should be included in your review

? Summarize the literature review findings:

? In this section, you must have a minimum of three (3) themes (plus conflicting findings, gaps, and cross¬cultural issues).

? Keep in mind that one (1) scholarly source does not constitute a theme. ? It should be organized by themes not by authors or publications.

? Be selective ¬ use literature that directly supports your research evaluation proposal.

? Keep in mind that not everything you read will be used.

? Identify conflicting findings in review the literature on your topic.

? Note any gaps identified in review the literature on your topic. ? Identify cross¬cultural issues that surfaced from the literature review.

? A brief summary: At the end of the literature review provide a very brief summary of the literature review and then explain how your evaluation will further the information known about the topic of interest.

Evaluation Proposal ¬ Part III

In this section of the paper you will describe the specific evaluation steps of your proposed program evaluation.

? The Methodology for Program Assessment of Success:

? Operationalization (What variables of choice for assessing success) ? Design (see designs in chapter 10 and decide which of these you are using)

? Measurement (How are the variables measured, i.e, nominal, ordinal, interval or ration? chapter 11)

? Instrumentation (chapter 12)

? Data collection (How? When? By whom? Where? Etc.)

? Human Subjects Concerns (informed consent, confidentiality, cultural issues)

Evaluation Proposal ¬ Part IV

This section of the paper explicitly describes the program's analysis plan for determining whether the program is successful.

? Statistical Analysis Plan of the Evaluation (specifically what statistic will you use to assess data? Averages? Amount of change? # of times something happens? Etc.)
