How can healthcare organization gain a competitive advantage? Indeed, there are several ways to achieve a competitive advantage. Healthcare organizations’ success depends heavily upon how effectively they organize the workforce--physicians and employees--to deliver healthcare services with their optimal desired outcomes on patient satisfaction, clinical quality, and financial outcomes. The results from Clark, Woloswin, and Gavran’s (2006) study revealed a positive relationship between employees’ satisfaction and patients’ satisfaction and loyalty. It is no surprise that employees’ satisfaction and loyalty were also related to physicians’ satisfaction with and loyalty to the hospital. Without satisfied employees and medical staff, quality care and services cannot be delivered to the customers/patients.
Are you aware that labor cost typically accounts for 50+% of operating costs in any given hospital?
