Write a paper in which you analyze and interpret at least two literary works by applying a feminist critical perspective. Select at least one of the required reading selections from the course and at least one of the suggested pieces from the additional reading list for Question 5. Read the following material from your textbook to understand the critical perspective: Critical Approaches Important in the Study of Literature: Feminist Criticism and Gender Studies and Queer Theory pp. 1,575-7. In your paper, you should assume that your audience must be informed about a feminist perspective of literature. Additionally, you should consider some of the following critical questions that will help you in your analysis.

• What is the author's gender? Is that important in the literature you have selected?

• What specific types of roles for women are there in the literature you selected?

• Do females in the story have secondary roles, or are they the protagonists?

• Are there stereotypical characterizations of women in any of these works? Are there stereotypical characterizations of men in these works?

• How are the relationships between men and women portrayed in these works?
