INTEREST GROUP PROFILE

The paper presentation should include:
1. General description of the group
• Who are the members? (Note: this isn't the officers or staff. It's the people who pay to join the organization).

• What does it want the health system to be like?
• What are its general legislative goals?
3. Positions on specific health issues

• How influential is it? Consider what resources it devotes to lobbying compared to organizations with which it competes
• How successful is the it legislatively?
Do not depend only on the information that they provide. You should also look at the bills the groups supports and opposes and consider the reasons that it take the positions that it does.
Your primary source of information will be the group itself, its filings with the California Secretary of State's office, and information from the California Legislature. If you need information that isn't on its webpage, you should contact the group early-providing you with information may not be its highest priority.
