You are HIM Director for hospital XYZ. Patient admissions and census has increased, and you have determined that you currently need to hire 1.5 additional FTE coders in order keep up on current productivity requirements for the hospital, as well as to keep the DNFB (Discharged not final billed) dollars below the benchmark for the hospital. The hospital is near the end of a hiring freeze, and is getting ready to approve the hiring of 25 total FTE’s for the organization. Hospital administration has asked each department in need of increased human resources to submit a formal justification of their need for consideration.

Formulate your justification to administration, being sure to address the following:
