Refer to Problem 5.9. Grazemont Dairy has a corporate tax rate of 40%> and the filling machine for the dairy line has a CCA rate of 30%>. The firm has an after-tax ALARR of 10%. On the basis of the exact IRR method, determine which alternative Grazemont Dairy should choose.
Problem 5.9:
There are several mutually exclusive ways Grazemont Dairy can meet a requirement for a filling machine for their creamer line. One choice is to buy a machine. This would cost € 6 5 000 and last for six years with a salvage value of €1 0 000. Alternatively, they could contract with a packaging supplier to get a machine free. In this case, the extra costs for packaging supplies would amount to €1 5 000 per year over the six-year life (after which the supplier gets the machine back with no salvage value for Grazemont). The third alternative is to buy a used machine for €3 0 000 with zero salvage value after six years. The used machine has extra maintenance costs of €3000 in the first year, increasing by €250 0 per year. In all cases, there are installation costs of €600 0 and revenues of € 2 0 000 per vear. Using the IRR method, determine which is the best alternative. The ALARR is 10%.

How does mechanical assembly differ from the other methods of assembly discussed in previous chapters (e.g., welding, brazing, etc.)?
What is the appropriate tunnel pressure in atm? Even at this (high) pressure, exact dynamic similarity is not achieved. Why?
Consider a recalculating flow in the power cycle shown in the figure. The fluid flowing in 100 ft of smooth pipe have an average specific weight of 50 lbf/ft3 and average dynamic viscosity of 5×10-4 lbf.s/ft2. Head loss in the nuclear reactor is 75 f..
What are the molar concentration and the species molar flux of the water vapor at a location (x*, y*) corresponding to the point at which the temperature and heat flux measurements were made in the first case?
Determine the exit velocity and the mass flow rate, if the exit area is 0.0006m2.
Geoffrey is building an electronic circuit on a breadboard. He needs to supply his circuit with a 1500 ohm resistance. But he does not have any 1500 ohm resistors on hand. All he has is a box of 1000 ohm resistors.
Consider a simply supported beam of length 50 ft subjected to a uniformly distributed downward load of 10 kips/ft from x=10 ft to x=40 ft and concentrated downward loads of 100 kips at x=10 ft and x=40 ft. Determine the shear and moment diagrams from..
a piston-cylinder device containing carbon-dioxide gas undergoes an isobaric process from 15 psia and 80of to 200of.
A piston-cylinder device contains helium gas initially at 145 kPa, 20 degrees C, and 0.5 m^3. The helium is now compressed in a polytropic process (PV^n = constant) to 390 kPa and 140 degrees C. Determine the heat loss or gain during this process.
