For the cellar of a new house, a hole is dug in theground, with vertical sides going down 2.40m. A concrete foundationwall is built all the way across the 9.60m width of the excavation.The foundation wall is 0.183 m away from the front of the cellarhole. During a rainstorm, drainage from the street fills up thespace in front of the concrete wall, but no the cellar behind thewall. The water does not soak into the clay soil. Find the forcethe water exerts on the foundation wall. For comparison, the weightof the water is 2.40m x 9.60m x 0.183m x 1,000 kg/m3 x9.80m/s2 = 41.3kN.
