It is required to use a rectifier circuit todesign a power supply that provides an average dc output voltage of12 V on which a maximum ripple voltage of 0.5 V is allowed. The rectifier feeds a load of 200 W and is fed from the linevoltage (120 Vrms, 60 Hz) through a transformer. The diodesavailable have a 0.7 V drop when conducting. If the designeropts for a half wave rectifier circuit:

A) Specify the rms voltage that must appear across the transform secondary.

B) Find the required valueof the filter capacitor.

C) Sketch Vs andVo.

D) From the sketch in C), find the maximum reverse voltage that will appear across the diode, andspecify the PIV rating of the diode.

E) Calculate the peak diode current.
