Failure to maintain academic/scholastic integrity is therefore not only a violation of the requirements for Walden University but of the profession of social work as it will be required of you throughout your professional career. Examples in the media show that plagiarism can ruin a career long after schooling is completed because giving proper credit for the work of others extends to professional as well as academic life.

A good rule to follow about any matter where there is a question about properly crediting others is "if in doubt, check it out!" Guessing wrong can cost us greatly.

Issues of academic honesty and proper crediting of sources continue to develop as the internet and digital sources continue to expand. Even if you were familiar with the rules five years ago, please carefully review this information as the examples and applications may have changed.

List two responses. You may choose to describe something in the plagiarism packet that is new to you, provide an example of plagiarism that you observed (without names or locations) or an instance of claiming someone's work as their own that you have heard about or read in the media.
