Two different approaches are well known in the field of community health assessment: health planning and community development. One is considered more "top down" in that public health professionals make the key decisions, and one is more "bottom up" because community stakeholders make the key decisions regarding health programs that will affect them directly.

For this Application Assignment, review this week's Resources. Consider the media titled Health Planning Versus Community Development Approaches, as well as this week's suggested resources. Think about which of the organizations featured in the media used a health-planning approach and which used a community development approach. Which steps/procedures should you follow to select the most appropriate approach for your community health assessment and why?
