Evidence-based practice (EBP) is a combination of research evidence, clinical expertise, and patient preferences and values by providing the highest quality care with a positive outcome without making any decisions based on personal judgement (Melnyk, Fineout-Overholt, Stillwell, & Williamson, 2009). Evidence-based practice arose to provide the best quality of care and services that medical staff shall render to their patient by asking their patient more questions that can be more helpful to deliver the best assessment and to reduce any treatment delay to the patient. Some insurers "offer clinicians incentives" if medical staff follows the evidence- based guidelines to improve the overall quality of care in the facility (Melnyk, Fineout-Overholt, Stillwell, & Williamson, 2009). According to Melnyk, Fineout-Overholt, Stillwell, & Williamson, 2009, health care providers prove that "they experience greater autonomy in their practices and a higher level of job satisfaction" while they are engaged in EBP. Once all health care providers are confident and have an adequate EBP skills and knowledge to utilize to their patients, the outcome will continue to arise, which means that the quality of care and service delivers in the United States health care system will keep accelerating and improving to have better problem-solving approach.

In 1996, evidence based medicine was defined as, the conscientious, explicit and judicious use of the current best evidence in making decisions about the care of individual patients. (Cluett, 2013). In other words, healthcare providers integrate their clinical expertise as well as clinical evidence, and patient values in making decisions to provide the patient care. There are a total of six steps a provider should take in the Evidence based practice, or EBP. The steps for the EBP process are

1. Assess - Start with the patient
2. Ask- Construct a well-built clinical question
3. Acquire- Select appropriate resources and conduct a search
4. Appraise- Research the evidence for its validity and applicability
5. Apply- Integrate the evidence with clinical expertise, patient preference, and apply it
6. Self-Evaluation- Evaluate performance with patient. (Introduction to Evidence-Based Practice, 2014)

Each case includes research and new skills for providers to support their evidence. It is very important that they gather all information and support before presenting to the patient. It is ultimately their decision to continue with the care plan.
