19mg of 9-fluorenone is dissolved in 5ml of diethyl ether. The resulting organic solution is extracted with 10ml of water. The Kp for 9-fluorenone in diethyle ether/water is 9.5, how much would remian in the ether layer?
The equation is: Kp = (g/ml[organic]) / (g/ml[water])
If you could work this out for the above equation step by step, that would be great, so that I can apply it to others.. below is what I'm "thinking".
Kp=9.5
g/ml organic= might be the .019/5?
g/ml water= I'm thinking is x/10?
