Assignment 5: Logical Design, Part II Problem: Your E-R Model from a prior week was a success (Assignment 2 - Logical Design, Part I)! Now, your boss wants you to normalize the database to 3NF. However, one of the executives is not convinced that there would be any value in normalizing the database. He thinks that the system would be too " constrained" and would not permit "flexibility" in entering data. Write a two to three (2-3) page paper in which you: 1. Introduce the concept of normalization in a letter to the executive and explain the pros and cons. 2. Explain the problems associated with data redundancy as it pertains to effectively using information for reporting and analysis. 3. Discuss your rationale for normalizing from your E-R Model and demonstrate: a. How you derived at your 3NF from the earlier assignment b. The process you took in arriving at your 3NF c. The three (3) step technique of transforming your data model into first normal form, second normal form, and third normal form 4. Use at least three (3) quality resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and similar Websites do not qualify as quality resources. Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements: • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions. • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student's name, the professor's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length. The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are: •& amp; nbsp;Recognize the purpose and principles of normalizing a relational database structure. • Design a relational database so that it is at least in 3NF. • Use technology and information resources to research issues in database systems. • Write clearly and concisely about relational database management systems using proper writing mechanics and technical style conventions.
