Fluorince is the most electronegative element on the periodic table, and molecules that contain multiple fluorine atoms have been shoen to posses some interesting properties. For example, the molecule hexa-fluorobenzene will not dissolve in organic solvents or in water. With this information in hand and the basic principle of extraction "like dissolves like," answer the following questions:

a) The density of water is 1.00 g/ml, the density of dichloromethane is 1.32 g/ml. If you mix dichloromethane and water together, which layer will be on top and which layer will be on the bottom?

b) The density of hexa-fluorobenzene is 1.61 g/ml. If you mix dichloromethane, water and hexafluorobenzene together how many layers will there be and what will their positions be?

c) If you add decalin to the mixture you created in (b), which layer will it dissolve in?

d) If you add sodium benzoate to the mixture you created in (b), which layer will it dissolve in?

e) If you add octa-fluoronaphthalene to the mixture you created in (b), which layer will it dissolve in?
