In synthesis of 1-Bromobutane we performed the following: Add 1.75 g sodium bromide and 1.25 mL water to flask fitted with spin bar. Allow to stir until most sodium bromide dissolved. Add 1.25 mL of 1-butanol to flask. Place on ice bath and continue stirring. Cautiously add 1.3 mL of concentrated sulfuric acid. Reflux for an hour. Transfer top layer to vial.
