Business Plan for Room for Dessert

The concept for "Room for Dessert" (RFD) is a full service, fine dining restaurant serving desserts and beverages (coffee, tea, wine and spirits)

The management team has the following objectives

  • Secure $600,030 funding to open a start-up unit in Boston during the third quarter of 1997
  • Prove the business model generate. $1,000.000 in unit sales and 35% cash on cash returns
  • Establish 10 units in the Northeast by the end of 1999
  • Grove into a national chain, with over40 units and 550 million in sales by the end of 2002

Within the context of the "Room for Dessert" case study, take on the role of an investor. Determine if you would make an investment in RFD by analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of the proposed business plan. Consider the Sahlman article "How to Write a Great Business Plan" as you complete the assignment.

For this assignment, write a 5-7 page paper in which you do the following:

1. Assess the strengths and weaknesses of the "people" factor.

3. Assess the strengths and weaknesses of the "context" factor.

4. Assess the strengths and weaknesses of the "risk and reward" factor.
