Fill two rubber balloons with air. Suspend both of them from the same point and let them hang down on strings of equal length. Rub each with wool or on your hair, so that they hang apart with a noticeable separation from each other. Assume the balloons are 0.2 m in diameter, each with a mass 1.7 g, hanging apart with a 0.05 m separation on the ends of strings making angles of 6° with the vertical.

(a) Make order-of-magnitude estimates of the force on each.

------------ N

(b) Make order-of-magnitude estimates of the charge on each.

-------------------C

(c) Make order-of-magnitude estimates of the field each creates at the center of the other.

-------------------- N/C

(d) Make order-of-magnitude estimates of the total flux of electric field created by each balloon.
