The Statfjord B drilling platform, was built in Norway and towed 370km in 5 days to its present site in the North Sea in August 1981. It is the heaviest object ever moved by man. Simplify the shape of the base and the 4 legs and estimate the minimum number of tugs needed to tow the structure at the required speed. The most powerful tugs can produce a thrust of approximately 2000kN,i.e.200tons. Take the density and kinematic viscosity of seawater as1025kg/m3 and1.5mm2/srespectively
