The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) test is an introspective self-report questionnaire designed to indicate phycological preferences in how people perceive the world and make decisions. The MBTI was developed by Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers and is based on the typological theory propose by Carl Jung that speculated that all humans experience the world thru sensation, intuition, feeling and thinking. (Jung, 1971 p.29)
The essence MBTI is that everyone has specific predilections in the way we construe and perceive our experiences. These preferences underlie our interests, needs, values, and motivation and therefore by understanding an individual's personality type it allow one to approach work and life in a manner that suits their lifestyle best and furthermore allow organizations to understand employees and how to motivate and work as team.
