When thinking about organizational effectiveness there are some important factors that must be considered. You have studied the role and influence that "environmental" forces have on criminal justice agencies. Moreover, you have learned this week that the term effectiveness most commonly refers to the degree of congruence between organizational goals and some observed outcomes. However, in order for criminal justice administrators and managers to determine effectiveness, they are required to accurately identify the criteria with which to assess effectiveness, measure these criteria, and weigh their various outcomes. Consequently, critically important theoretical questions arise throughout this process.
