Answer ONE of the following questions in an essay of 800-1000 words. Cite a minimum of two of the assigned articles to support your thesis. One article should refer to "A Rose for Emily" and the other should refer to "Paul's Case." Some of the questions may overlap. 1. "A Rose for Emily" by William Faulkner and "Paul's Case" by Willa Cather feature very different protagonists who are both isolated from their respective communities. Discuss the circumstances that cause and reinforce their isolation. To answer the question, consider the following: Do Miss Emily and Paul find themselves in environments which contribute to their isolation? (Environment can include things like other characters, setting and point of view.) Do they have certain character traits and responses which reinforce their isolation?
