For your Session Long Project, you will be performing a case study analysis. The final paper is due in this module. It should be about the Robert Courtney case.

The analysis will be divided into five parts, one part for each module.

The framework for the Session Long Project and for generally conducting the case study:

• Module 1 - Criminal Law/Contract Law
• Module 2 - Tort Law
• Module 3 - Vicarious Liability
• Module 4 - Role of the Allied Healthcare Professional
• Module 5 - Patient Consent/Patient Rights and Responsibilities/End of Life

Assignment

For this Module, please complete the following tasks. This paper will be added to the end of your submission for Module Four.

1. Discuss the rights and expectations that a patient has when interacting with an organization or person providing some level of healthcare services.

1. Were those rights and expectations violated in this case? If so, how?
2. What role did the pharmacist have as a patient advocate? Did he uphold that obligation?

2. Using information from the Internet and other sources, evaluate the legal conclusion of this case.

1. What were the deciding factors?
2. Did the punishment fit the crime?
3. Was an appeal filed?
4. Is he in prison today?
5. Did this case result in any changes in procedures for dispensing drugs to patients?
