Determine the required diameter for the uniaxial tensile loaded two-force component, if the failure criterion is yielding. Find the minimum diameter that provides a reliability of 80% (0.80). The material has the following properties: Sy = N (210,40) MPa, where N denotes a normal distribution Su = N (380, 50) MPa The load, P, on the member is 12.4 kN 2. Describe in an itemized list or flowchart, the steps to solution to determine the probability of yielding if BOTH the yield strength and the load, P, have the following distributions. Use a deterministic diameter of 10.0 mm for the component diameter. Sy = N (210, 40) MPa P = N(12.4, 1.2) kN Using your suggested process, please calculate the reliability if you have sufficient information.
