The goal of this assignment is to create a star schema for a data warehouse. The data warehouse is for the fictitious college used in many of the examples during this course. Analysts at the college are trying to detect trends in registrations in courses over time. A registration is one student registering for one course. They want to know if registrations for individual courses are going up, down, or staying the same over time and whether this is different at the different college campuses. They also want to know if registration trends are different for female students compared to male students. Here is the schemaView in a new windowfor the operational database.
1) Determine the fact for the star schema using the information provided above. You can assume an ETL process exists to create the data for any fact you determine.
2) Determine the dimension tables based on the information provided above. Identify the primary key by underling the appropriate column in the table. List all the columns in the table. List all the columns if the dimension table comes directly from the operational database.
3) Create the fact table. Include all appropriate columns.
4) Underline the primary key column(s) in each table. Italicize the foreign key column(s) in each table unless you use Microsoft Access. See the information below if you use Access.
5) Create your schema using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint. Name your file star_schema. Check with your instructor for approval before using any other application for this assignment.
