Photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) is a laser-based surgery process that corrects near- and farsightedness by removing part of the lens of the eye to change its curvature and hence focal length. This procedure can remove layers 0.250?m thick in pulses lasting 12.0ns with a laser beam of wavelength 193nm . Low-intensity beams can be used because each individual photon has enough energy to break the covalent bonds of the tissue.
A) What is the energy of a single photon?
The coefficient of kinetic friction for wood sliding on wood is 0.20. What is the final speed of the bullet
Illustrate what is the difference between a departmental accounting system and a responsibility accounting system? Are the reports of departmental net income and the departmental contribution to overhead useful in assessing a department manager's ..
A glass window 0.45cm thick measures 80cm by 37cm. To compare the relative efficiency of air and glass as insulators, calculate the heat flows through this window
A ski starts from rest and slides down a 28 degree incline 70m long. If the coefficient of friction is 0.090, what is the ski's speed at the base of the incline
Suppose molecules of an ideal gas are escaping by effusion through a small hole in a wall of an enclosure maintained at temp T. Calculate the mean kinetic energy of a molecule in the effusion beam Ue
A truck travels beneath an airplane that is moving 190 km/h at an angle of 26? to the ground.
A doubly charged ion is accelerated to an energy of 31.5 keV by the electric field, What is the electric field strength between the plates in V/m
A stone is thrown vertically upward with a speed of 16.0 m/s. How fast is it moving when it reaches a height of 12 m? How long is required to reach this height?
At a waterpark, sleds with riders are sent along a slippery, horizontal surface by release of a large, compressed spring. The spring with a force constant k= 3700 N/m and negligible mass rests on the frictionless horizontal surface.
A car of mass M = 1000kg traveling at 60.0km/hour enters a banked turn covered with ice. What is the radius (r) of the turn if theta = 20.0 degrees
An object at rest on a flat, horizontal surface explodes into two fragments, one five times as massive as the other one. The lighter fragment gains the velocity of 10.0m/s in the left direction right after the explosion.
A particle travels counter clockwise around the origin at constant speed in the circular path that has a diameter of 2.50 m, going around twice per second. Point Q is on the path halfway between points P and R that lie on the x axis and the y axis..
