Imagine that you are hired as the environmental manager at a facility producing several streams of hazardous waste. The facility has recently had a small spill of hazardous waste inside the plant perimeter. Though small the spill did result in a delayed notification for a reportable quantity and later the resultant fine from a state agency.

What are the first steps you would take to be sure that your facility is handling its hazardous waste properly? What questions would you need to answer about the waste streams or procedures to determine the appropriate actions to take?
