Designing and Writing a Report on a Statistical Study of Your Own
Select a question of your own to investigate using one of the hypothesis tests studied in this class. Explain why you chose the particular question to investigate. State a provable claim (corresponding to the alternative hypothesis). Write the null and alternative hypotheses. Determine which hypothesis test is appropriate.
Describe the process you would use for conducting your study. Include a description of the sampling procedure (including sample size) you would use to ensure the conditions for the particular hypothesis test are satisfied.
You are not expected to actually conduct the study. Analyze the process you described for conducting your study. Discuss the possibility of bias and/or other factors that could contribute to non-sampling error in the outcome of your study.
Your report for your Final Project should be from one to two 1.5-spaced pages using 12 point Times (or a comparably sized) font with 1" margins (should look spaced and sized like this document). Data, calculations and graphs should be included as appropriate, but are not to count toward the suggested report length.

For any two real numbers u and v, max(u, v) := u iff u ≥ v; otherwise, max(u, v) := v. A metric space (S, d) is called an ultrametric space and d an ultrametric if d(x, z) ≤ max(d(x, y), d(y, z)) for all x, y, and z in R. Show that in an ultrametr..
Find the area under the standard normal curve to the right of z = 1.65. Round to four decimal places.
Bob compares his SAT Verbal score of 400 to Marge's ACT Verbal score of 20. "I beat you," he exclaims. "My score is 20 times your score!" Although his multiplication is good, his logic is faulty. Explain why.

Find out the Expected value of the perfect information for the given problem. Given the subsiquent cost tree, illustrate what is the expected outcome.
Following are some representative scores. (High scores represent more favorable attitudes.) Calculate for both before and after scores, and write a conclusion based on the standard deviations.
a. Calculate the probability that the sample proportion will be within ±0.05 of the population proportion. b. Calculate the probability that the sample proportion will be within ±1 standard error of the population proportion.
