Assignment: Designing a Training Program

Continuing from the previous scenario from Assignment 1, you have begun the process of developing a training program in order to address enhancing employee knowledge, skills, and attitudes (KSA's). Two major parts of the process, training needs analysis and training design have been completed, which now leave development, implementation, and evaluation of the program.

Write a seven to eight (7-8) page paper in which you:

  1. Describe what the training program's instructional strategy is, what it consists of, and what is the relationship between learning objectives and learning points. Identify and discuss three (3) factors associated with how a trainer might be chosen or selected. Are there any alternatives to providing development? Explain. Analyze the experiential learning model and define each of its steps. Compare the experiential learning model with the Nine Events Model and draw conclusions about using one or the other. Evaluate and discuss at least five (5) factors necessary to support transfer of training and identify 2 of them that would specifically influence practice of new behaviors back on the job. Define and discuss the two (2) types of outputs from the evaluation phase of the training process. Who is more interested in process data? Outcome data? Why? Describe briefly what cost/ benefit and cost effectiveness evaluations are, and provide a small example of each. Why is it beneficial to place monetary value on training?
  2. Use at least three (3) quality academic resources in this assignment. Note: You may not use Wikipedia, blogs, social media sites, or Websites with articles from individual contributors.

  • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format.
  • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

  • Identify when to conduct a Training Needs Analysis (TNA).  Analyze the various approaches to performing a Training Needs Analysis. Develop strategies for training design. Use technology and information resources to research issues in training and development.
  • Write clearly and concisely about training and development using proper writing mechanics.
