Assessment - Essay: Planning a unit of work for a specific language teaching context.

Design an initial unit of work for an identified group of second language learners. Justify the unit in terms of the ideological and methodological principles and content conceptualisations discussed in this course.

Guidelines:

1. Identifying the context of learning and teaching, and the learners' needs the unit is designed to address and indicating your sources of information, e.g. the program in which the unit is taught, the textbook adopted if any, student records, discussions with staff, curriculum documents, and observations.

2. Presenting an overview of the unit of work in a table, including the title, the duration, the unit-specific learning objectives, the content, the activities including the resources/technologies required, and the assessment of learning.

3. Justifying each of the unit-specific learning objectives.

4. Presenting each learning activity in dot points and justifying how the design of the activity has addressed the adopted pedagogy, the targeted learning objectives, and the classroom context.

5. Making references to the course readings, the related TESOL literature and curriculum documents to support your justifications.
