The concept of self is core to the study of personality, and most of the theories we have studied in this course postulate some idea about what constitutes the self. This week, we are looking at the self-psychology model which presents several theories regarding how we perceive ourselves and how that is expressed in our personalities.

In your initial post, provide a brief overview of the two theories of self that resonate the most with you and explain why you relate to these theories. Be sure to identify the principal theorists associated with your two chosen theories.

Describe the impact of our current digital age on the concept of self , including the impact of social media on the way we perceive ourselves.

Self-model theory of subjectivity

It can be called as human model or self-identification theory, which explains the different aspects that is required for understanding our own strength and abilities. This theory basically considers the attitudes and beliefs of the people, which help to understand our self in an effective manner.

Theory analyses the self-hood with the support of different psychological concepts and sub personal levels. Thomas Metzinger modified the theory in the year 1933, in which the theory deals with conscious mental model. This theory considers the beliefs and attitudes of a person for identifying the concept of self (Goñi et al 2011,p.509). So With the help of this theory we can able to understand the different types of personalities and nature of each person.
