Seven habits of Strong Ethical Leadership:
1. Ethical leaders have strong personal character.
2. Ethical leaders have a passion to do right.
3. Ethical leaders are proactive.
4. Ethical leaders consider all stakeholders' interests.
5. Ethical leaders are role models for the organization's values.
6. Ethical leaders are transparent and actively involved in decision making.
7. Ethical leaders take a holistic view of the firm's ethical culture.
Here are discusses archetypes of an unethical and ethical leader:
- Unethical leader: egocentric, ethical standards are optional, breaking the law serves a greater good.
- Apathetic leader: care little for ethics within a company. Ethics are relative and optional. No passion for the mission or vision of a company. No sacrifice for the betterment of the company.
- Psychopathic leader: superficial charm, grandiose self-worth, no empathy, enjoy not adhering to rules and policies.
- Ethical leader: creates opportunities for organizational cultures to grow and develop, collaborative, strong ability to communicate.
