Santucci Construction bid on a contract to construct the main drain for the Dan Ryan Expressway in Chicago. The bid was submitted to the Cook County Board of Supervisors .Four bids were submitted: Santucci’s bid was for $1,095,000, the other bids were $1,700,000, $1,720,000, and $1,800,000. Santucci’s bid was selected by the Board. Later Santucci discovered that it had used the wrong figure for determining the cost per lineal foot. It had determined that the cost would be $142.75/ft, but they had erroneously used an earlier figure of $108.50/ft. in computing the bid. Can Santucci rescind the contract? Explain.
