Provide 10 numeric values your profession (ages of criminals, test scores, blood pressure of patients, etc.) or personal life (ages of family members, recent bowling scores, randomly chosen 3-digit numbers, etc.) and find the mean, median, and mode of the data set.

If your data set contains one or more extreme values (low or high), describe the effect of these outliers on your mean and median. Which of the three measures best do you believe best describe the central tendency of your data set?

Next, calculate the standard deviation for your data set. What can you conclude about the amount of variation in your data set by comparing the mean with the standard deviation?
